Easter Sunday

Wishing you all a Joyful Easter.  Hoping you enjoy the photos of Easters past and hopefully of the future (see bulletin).  Happy Easter.

Friends,
This has been an extremely difficult time for all of us.  I miss our interactions in the office, in church.  I miss the people of the parish, the different quality of the Sunday and weekday Masses, praying together, the music, the banter before and after Mass, the voices of adults and children, all of the things that make up the life of this small parish in the corn fields.  A virus has shut us down.
Thank you for rising to the challenge of doing things from home, for interacting with one another and reaching out to the people of the parish.  It is appreciated.
The next part of this note is difficult for me. Bishop Pates asked that during this time all diocesan staff, parish and others take a pay cut. He asked for a 33% cut for all.  Having talked, struggled, consulted and looked at figures, I decided that at this time this was too much.  I will take the 33% cut, as mandated for pastors and vicars, but having seen the generosity of the people of the parish, I have asked Tammy to introduce a 15% cut for everybody else.  I know this is hard and painful, but thankfully we still have a little flex room.  A few years ago that would not be possible.  I will have to review it again at the end of May if we are still on lockdown.
Again I am deeply appreciative of all you do for us…more than 100 percent.
STAY SAFE AND Healthy
Fr Karl
