Dear Brothers and Sisters, Welcome back to the beginning of our religious education program. For some of you this may be a totally new experience and for others it is just the continuation of the faith journey. Our family centered faith program tries to involve the whole family in the religious education. It recognizes that the parents are the primary educators of their children. Therefore if a program is to be a success they must be involved. That is why we invite you the parents to follow the same program that your children are going through so that you know what they are being taught and can when you gather around the table in your home help answer and encourage them in their religious journey. We are catholic because Jesus Christ died and rose from the dead for us. Our fundamental beliefs are expressed in the Apostles and Nicene creeds and that is what we will be looking at this year in our religious education program. While it is very important to know the fundamentals of our faith, it is equally important that parents by the example of their own lives try to live the faith in the everyday practice of their lives. The apostle James reminds us of that when he tells us to be “doers of the word not just hearers” So as we begin the new religious education year let’s try to be good examples for those we journey with.
